There were many times when Douglas Hammond just felt like he was at the end of his rope. He sometimes spread himself so thin trying to appease his mother and her political pursuits and trying his best to keep his twin brother from fading too far into things. He forgot to make time for himself, which was where Natalie usually came in. While he tried to take care of everyone else, including her, she did all she could to take care of him in return.

Doug was currently at home trying to tidy up just a bit since Natalie was coming over with dinner. He liked to impress her not have her think he was a mess all of the time.

Natalie totally understood when work or life pulled Doug away from her, because it wasn't as if she didn't have her own issues with both things. Between helping to run the firm and then looking out for Shane she could have the same problem. So while they sometimes could go weeks without seeing each other they both knew they still cared for one another, and things would work themselves out eventually. When Doug called she'd dropped everything to come and see him.

She showed up at his door holding a pizza, knocking lightly. They'd had this thing going between them for awhile now and she was looking forward to really spending some time with him and figuring out their future.
